Lafarge Plasterboard has a workforce of approximately 210 permanent employees with representatives in all age groups. The average age is 42 years. We are an international team with employees from a wide variety of backgrounds including; Australian, French, Fijian, Malaysian, Afghani, Turkish, Greek, Pakistani, British, Serbian, Philippine, Sri Lankan, Argentinean, German, Indian, Vietnamese, Aboriginal, Maltese, Egyptian, Ethiopian, Syrian, Macedonian and Somalian.

We are dedicated to the ongoing training and development of our employees and have a rigorous appraisal process that supports our focus on career planning. Key roles have succession plans in place and 16% of our workforce has gained promotional roles since their initial employment. This figure includes a number of employees who have secured positions at other Lafarge sites internationally and some who have gained multiple promotions since recruitment.

In Australia, Lafarge Plasterboard is committed to supporting local communities through national fundraising and participation in local events.
Lafarge Plasterboard has supported Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea for the past six years. All money raised from the Biggest Morning Tea supports the Cancer Council’s programs of research, support and education.
In addition to the Cancer Council event, some employees also participate in Team Lafarge. Team Lafarge is a group of energetic employees at Lafarge Plasterboard who enjoy taking part in athletic events around Sydney such as the City 2 Surf, Sydney to Wollongong bike ride, Blackmores Sydney Running Festival, and Seven Bridges Walk. These annual events offer Lafarge employees an opportunity to fundraise and support both national and local charities.
Lafarge also partakes in local communities through the PlastaMasta network in both metro and regional areas. PlastaMasta stores give back to the community through sponsorship of local sports teams, donations of plasterboard and building materials for community buildings, and fundraising for local social events.
As part of a global community, Lafarge Group is committed to working with local populations and associations to implement action programs for economic and social development, environmental protection and public health.
